Welcome to Nyxaion. By accessing or using our website and services, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions and our Privacy Policy.

2. Data Ownership and Privacy

You retain full ownership of all astronomical data (FITS files, images, metadata) you upload to Nyxaion. We do not claim any copyright over your data.

• Your private files remain private unless you explicitly choose to share them via Public Projects.
• We may analyze metadata (such as FITS headers) to provide search functionality, aggregation, and platform improvements.
• We do not sell your data to third parties.

3. Fair Use and Quotas

Nyxaion is designed to be an efficient, collaborative tool for astronomers. To ensure stability for all users:

• You agree not to upload malicious software, illegal content, or data that violates copyright laws.
• Your storage usage is subject to the limits of your subscribed plan.
• Accounts that remain completely inactive for over 12 months may have their data archived or removed to free up resources, subject to prior email notification.

4. Account Security

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials (via your Google OAuth login). Nyxaion is not liable for any loss or damage arising from your failure to protect your login information.

5. Service Availability

While we strive for 100% uptime, Nyxaion is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the service with or without notice.

6. Changes to Terms

We may update these terms occasionally to reflect changes in our service or applicable laws. Continued use of Nyxaion after any such changes constitutes your consent to such changes.

7. Open Source Software & Third-Party Acknowledgements

Nyxaion gratefully acknowledges and respects the open-source scientific software and communities that power components of our backend processing pipelines:

• Siril: Automated subframe calibration, registration, and stacking in our background worker environments utilize standard, unmodified command-line builds of Siril, an open-source astronomical image processing tool maintained by Cyril Richard and the Free-Astro team, licensed under the GNU General Public License v3.0. Nyxaion is an independent service and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the Siril project.
• ASTAP: Offline astrometric plate solving is powered by ASTAP (Astrometric STAck Program) and its star catalog databases, created and maintained by Han Kleijn. Nyxaion is an independent service and is not officially affiliated with or endorsed by the ASTAP project.
• Astrometry.net: Astrometric calibration and blind plate-solving capabilities are assisted by the open-source algorithms created by the Astrometry.net team (Lang, Hogg, Mierle, Blanton, Roweis).
